The Call for Human-Positive Leaders
September 22, 2026

Every era of technology has produced a dominant leadership archetype. Industrial capitalism gave us the operator. The internet gave us the growth hacker. The platform era gave us the founder-king. The AI era is drifting toward a new default: the extractor, the leader who treats models as labor arbitrage, workers as friction, and users as training data.
If you are a CEO, CIO, or CHRO right now, extraction does not feel like a choice, and AI transformation is not a bet anyone is asking you to consider. It's the assignment.
The board expects the margin story. Analysts expect the headcount story. Where leaders have already moved, they've been rewarded. Questioning the script feels like a career risk.
There is an alternative. We call it Human-Positive Leadership. It is not a values statement. It is a competitive posture. The extraction playbook engineers humans out. The human-positive playbook recognizes humans are where value comes from.
A Human-Positive Leader runs the business through three disciplines:
- Workforce Ingenuity: AI expands what people can do rather than displacing them. The measure is human capability created and the value it produces for the business, not headcount saved.
- Positive-Sum Prosperity: success is engineered so a company and its customers, workforce, partners, and shareholders win together. The measure is compounding growth, not zero-sum gains.
- Ethical and Humane Use of AI: consent, transparency, and reversibility are defaults, and manipulation, opaque surveillance, and synthetic deception are treated as growth liabilities. The measure is trust earned and the lasting adoption it drives, not short-term lift.
Extraction optimizes for the next earnings call. Human-Positive Leadership optimizes to last.
The window to set a different norm is open, but not for long. Capability is consolidating. Disclosure and labor rules are moving from op-eds to statutes. Customers are learning to tell the difference. The leaders who define human-positive practice now will set the standard the rest have to meet.
We're betting Human-Positive Companies will define the next decade.
